Ipoh, I'm in love

Ipoh is a very nice place for me. Their classic-designed buildings are very amusing and even the schools are also very vintage in design. I was amazed on how they keep their heritage so well. Ipoh also provides many activities to do and things that I would recommend to people if they’re planning to go to Ipoh are exploring the nature and food hunting.

Ipoh has so many cave temples that are worth to visit. One of the caves that we managed to visit is Kek Lok Tong which is located near to the natural and picturesque area of Gunung Rapat. You’ll definitely be in awe visiting the temple as the cave has some impressive design due to its natural stalactites and stalagmites. The cave temple is about 12-acre site and was used as early as 1920 as a place of worship. One important thing to note is there are lots of monkeys playing around the area so you might have to be aware and not to bring foods so that you will not be disturbed by the monkeys. As for the fee, you don’t have to worry as it is only a place of worship like a mosque for Muslims – no fee is required. If you’re a Muslim, don’t worry. We will still be welcomed there as long as we didn’t touch any sensitive issues there.

Gunung Lang Recreational Park is located off Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman (formerly known as Kuala Kangsar Road). It was developed since October 2000 around a scenic background of limestone hills of Gunung Lang. The main attractions of this recreational park are the man-made waterfall, a 2-km broadwalk over the swamp and two lookout towers. Facilities like a children playground, campsites, mini zoo, a prayer room and washrooms are also provided. You can see the visitors busy feeding lots of fishes in the lake such as Lampan, Keli and Tilapia. The fish flakes can be bought at the main counter and the entrance fee for adult is only RM3 and RM1.50 for children and senior citizens. The fee is for a boat ride from the jetty to the recreational park.

Kledang Saiong Forest Eco Park is located in the Kledang Saiong Forest Reserve which is only 5km from Bandaraya Ipoh. By only paying RM2 fee, visitors can enjoy themselves dipping in the stream, BBQ, picnic, jungle trekking and camping. The stream is still clean and the water is super cold and refreshing. We couldn’t make it to explore everything there as we only spend half an hour due to the rain. There are still lots of plants including the rare species that we did not manage to see because lacking of time. For the naturalist, I guaranteed that you will definitely enjoy getting close to the nature.

As for the food hunting places, I would recommend you to try Greentown Dim Sum Cafe. There are many cafes in Ipoh that serve delicious Dim Sum but most of them are non-Halal except this cafe. However, because of its Halal Certificate, there isn’t really much of a choice. Frankly speaking, that was my first time trying Dim Sum and it was a really great experience!
Hokkaido Ice Cream Puff is also one of the top spots that you must try if you’re in Ipoh. It offers crispy-type puffs with a fat scoop of ice-cream sandwiches in between. Some of the flavours that they offer are Mint, Choco Chips, Chocolate Chips, Mango, Yam and many more. The price is affordable only RM4.30 each and I think it is very worth it. Only by passing the shop, you can already be attracted by that baked buttery aroma lingering in the air. All the puffs are freshly baked by the hour to ensure the level of crispiness.

There are also a few hipster cafes that you can go like Konda Kondi cafe and Chakchibow cafe. Both cafes provide a good ambience for people to hang out either with families or friends. The ones who love to take pictures will surely enjoy these places as there are lots of instagrammable spots there. The food is also quite tasty with a reasonable price. The most suggested menu in Konda Kondi is its home-made pizza and the Oden. Both are appetizing and worth to try.

This is My Life - by Asmena Asri

Have you ever feel like breaking down
and no one is there for you?
Have you ever feel outcasted
and no one recognizes you?
Have you ever feel like somehow you just don’t belong
and no one understands you?

Have you ever think of running away?
Have you ever think of leaving all your life behind?
Have you ever think of locking yourself in your room?
With the radio turned up so loud
So no one can hear you crying or screaming.
Tuning to sad songs
because they best reflect your life

Have you ever feel like you’ve been pushed around
that you feel like your existence is no longer important
Have you ever sick of feeling left out
to be on the edge of breaking down
Have you ever want to be somebody else
so that you can get along like normal people
Have you ever stuck in a world you hate
faking big smiles and chanting ridiculous lies
just to please other people
but deep inside you’re bleeding

No you don’t know what it’s like
When nothing feels right
You don’t know what it’s like to be me
No one will understand
Stop pretending like you do
So this is it

Welcome to my life.

Is This My Fault? -by Asmena Asri

Pain is what I receive,
With the name of 'love' I was deceived,
Why should I grieve,
When there's nothing to retrieved,
Maybe it is now for you to leave,
Because it's my life for me live,
That I was hoping for you to give.

All I asked is just your attention,
It's like a drug for my severe addiction,
Hurt or getting hurt was never my intention,
Love and being loved was my only obsession,
But things slowly get into complexion,
When we no longer walk in the same direction,
Being lost in our world of confusion,
As if we breathe in two other dimensions,
Maybe what we need now is communication,

And so does time for some reflection.
